The annual awards ceremony that recognises all those that have achieved something special during the year and gives thanks to all the helpers who make the club function.
There are also some special people that don't receive an award but really deserve one, that is Anne and Chris. Without their dedication and efforts Wirral Judo Club wouldn't exist so a very big thank you from all the parents and players for yet another great year.

British Championships, Pre-Cadets & Cadets, Sheffield, 7~8/12/13

Congratulations to Andrew Morris for his Gold medal in the British Championships. This is the first ever British Championships Gold Medal by a Wirral Judo Club member. Andrew has previously won Bronze and Silver so it is great that he has finally won a well deserved Gold medal.
Well done to all the others who took part. This is the toughest competition of the year so to even win a fight is an achievement.
Thanks to Anne and Chris for coaching, it involved very long days and a tiring journey home.

Kent International, Crystal Palace, 29~30/06/13

The annual trip to London for the Kent International resulted in one silver medal and one bronze. One of the toughest competitions of the year so a great team effort.
Well done to everyone who took part and Anne and Chris for driving and coaching.

Very nice to see so many young Judoka from the area making the effort to travel to our club for this event. We hope you all enjoyed the day. Mini-Mons are about taking part, not winning or losing, so everybody received a medal as a memento, maybe there was a future Olympic champion fighting today, you never know!
Not got the list of everyone who took part but you are all winners because you had a go.

A great event for beginners to get a feel for competition and a big turn out from Wirral Judo Club.

English Junior Open, Sheffield, 10/03/13

Many congratulations to Andrew Morris for winning a silver medal in the English Junior Open. Normally Andrew fights in the Cadet division, U17, but in this event he was fighting in U20. The only person to beat him also went on to win the Senior competition, yet another reason why it was such an achievement. Well done too to Lisa Gatti for having a go, she was the lowest grade by far in the U57 but fought well.

British Schools Judo Championships, Sheffield, 09/03/13

A great day for Wirral Judo Club with five medals. The British Schools Judo Championships are a good way to experience a major competition. It is held in the same venue as the British Championships but not quite as difficult as squad members are excluded. It was also the first competition held under the new IJF rules but the referees had the benefit of video replays to confirm difficult decisions so there were not many problems.
A long day for some and a snowy drive home but well worth the effort.
Well done to everyone who took part and many thanks to Anne and Chris for their support.

North West Age Band Championships, St. Helens, 16~17/02/13

Yet another gold medal for Andrew Morris in the U60 Cadets, this win will move him up the Ranking Lists. These lists are used to select players to represent England in International competitions and training camps. As a National Ranking event this is always a tough competition so it is really good to see such results.

Another gold medal for Andrew Morris in the U60 Cadets, a silver for Eve Soakell and bronzes for Alfie Wilson and Lisa Gatti. A good day for Wirral Judo Club at the Midland U21 Age Band Championships. Always a tough competition so really good to see such good results.

Congratulations to Andrew Morris for his Bronze medal in the British Championships. A great result considering he had been out of action for 7 weeks due to a badly broken finger. The best day of the year when the entire club gets to meet up and watch all ages from U8 right through to the Senior Dan grades. A total of 69 competitors so plenty of good Judo to watch.
Well done to everyone who took part and to all the helpers who made the day possible.

Dan Grading, Rochdale, 11/11/12

Congratulations to Cormac Hayes for gaining 30 points towards his 1st Dan bringing his total to 60.
Richard Clements tried but did not improve on the 70 points he already has towards his 1st Dan.
James Quirk also entered trying for points towards his 2nd Dan. It was a case of bad news and good news. The bad news being he only had two opponents to fight, both considerably heavier. More bad news in that he didn't win any points. Good news, however, that he survived his encounter with a 124kg opponent with only minor bruising, brave effort though!

Another silver for Andrew Morris at the British Championships beaten only by last years Gold medallist. A tough day so well done to everyone who took part and to Anne and Chris for coaching.
James Quirk U66 and Emily Fitzsimmons U52 both gained 10 points towards their 2nd Dan.

Congratulations to Andrew Morris for winning Gold in the Cadet U55kg. This is one of the toughest events of the year so it was a great achievement. Congratulations also to Emily Fitzsimmons for Bronze in Junior U52kg. It was quite an international event this year with teams from Ireland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy and Australia.
Well done to everyone who took part, most moved up a weight group or into a new band so it was much harder than recent events.
The usual big thanks to Anne and Chris for coaching over both days.

Not a very large entry at this competition but it is the first time it has been run.
Four members of Wirral Judo Club attended and everyone received a medal.
