Selections for Cadet European Cup in Czech Republic, 19/04/13

More good news for Wirral Judo Club member Andrew Morris. He has been selected again to represent England at the Cadet European Cup in Teplice, Czech Republic. The competition will be followed by a training camp.
The selection is a reward for all the hard work Andrew has done this year which has taken him to the top of the ranking list for his weight group.

Wirral Judo Club currently has two members who make the national ranking lists. Andrew Morris, U60 and Lisa Gatti, U63.

Black Belt For James Quirk

Lucky thirteen for James Quirk, he is the thirteenth person coached to 1st Dan by Anne and Chris.
At an evening grading attended by over thirty people, which meant an 11pm finish, James earned the remaining points to reach the 100 required. He has already completed the theory test so now he can wear his black belt with pride.
It was a tough evening as he was the youngest, smallest and lightest Judoka so he did really well and was only beaten in the last fight of his line up.
Emily Fitzsimmons also fought and gained 15 points towards her 2nd Dan.
Many thanks to Anne, Chris and Callum for all the encouragement and coaching that helped James gain his black belt.

Black Belt For Emily Fitzsimmons

Congratulations to Emily Fitzsimmons, she has passed the theory to go with the 100 competition points to achieve the rank of 1st Dan.
So now she can proudly wear her black belt.

Grading News

Congratulations to Emily Fitzsimmons for gaining the 100 points for her 1st Dan. All she needs to do is pass the theory and she is official!
Well done Emily.

After the recent grading in Rochdale James Quirk has 70 points towards 1st Dan and has passed his theory so his very close.
Callum Davies gained another 10 points towards his 3rd Dan making his total 20 points.

Black Belt for Matt Dawson, 23/11/11

Following winning his line-up at a grading in August Matt Dawson has successfully completed his theory exam so now he is officially a 1st Dan Black Belt.

Abseiling

Most people use stairs or the lift to get to the ground floor of the hospital. In a very brave attempt to raise money Chris Soakell and Georgina Harris took the scenic route and abseiled 200 ft down the outside.
Their bravery raised £430 for the club funds.
A big thank you to everyone who sponsored them and, of course, Chris and Gina for their efforts.
Chris does not look scared, he was concentrating!
